Shreveport Green in collaboration with MS KICK hosts their Monthly Mobile Market at Milam Street  Kitchen Incubator Community Kitchen (MS KICK). The Mobile Market includes a variety of fresh produce such as broccoli, collard, spinach, turnip, mixed, and mustard greens. Fresh herbs such as parsley,  oregano, and mint are a few of the other fresh products available for sale.

In conjunction with the Mobile Market, MS KICK Interim Executive Director, Monique Armand conducts a healthy food demo that highlights one of the featured fresh produce recipes provided by Shreveport  Green’s “Eating from the Garden” Cookbook. The recipe booklet has tons of fresh produce recipes that correlate with what you can grow in the garden seasonally. Billy Anderson, the Mobile Market Director speaks about the positive impacts of the Mobile Market, he states “Access to healthy locally grown vegetables is essential in order to fight health issues in low-income neighborhoods. The mobile market helps in reducing conditions by selling fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables at 50 cents a pound and providing demos in food-insecure neighborhoods.

MS KICK and Shreveport Green have also collaborated to build the MS KICK Community Garden which is located adjacent to the building. The Community Garden was created to help address the food disparity in the Choice Neighborhood Community. With the harvest of the produce from the Community Garden,  MS KICK will be able to help the members of the community create and sustain healthy eating with

Gardening skills provided by Shreveport Green, Healthy Cooking Classes with the Tenants of MS KICK, and Potluck style Farm to Table events with the entire Community.  The team members involved in this initiative were Monique Armand, Interim Executive Director of MS  KICK, and Billy Anderson, Mobile Market Director for Shreveport Green.
